Overview
To protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be required to access the Workday portal.
Faculty and Staff
Use of Workday will be required for all Faculty and Staff for human resource purposes, such as earnings management and time-and-effort reporting. Workday will not accept logins from non-MFA protected accounts, therefore all Faculty and Staff must enable MFA before accessing Workday for the first time.
Faculty and Staff users use the Duo MFA system. To learn about setting up Duo, see the KB article Setup TOTP MFA for Faculty and Students.
Students
Use of Workday will be required for students who are employed by the university, such as student workers and teaching or research assistants, for earnings management and time-and-effort reporting. Workday will not accept logins from non-MFA protected accounts, therefore students with on-campus employment must enable MFA before accessing Workday for the first time.
Enrollment in MFA is optional, but recommended for students who do not currently require access to Workday. This will change in the future when the present student information system is replaced by Workday. This change is anticipated at some point in 2024-2025.
Student users use a TOTP token for MFA. To learn about setting up TOTP MFA, see the KB article Setup TOTP MFA for Faculty and Students.
