Connecting Other Devices to In-Dorm WiFi
For other devices (gaming consoles, printers, smart TV’s, streaming devices, etc.) that only support PSK (pre-shared key) WiFi, there is a network called LaTechIoT. You will need to use your desktop/laptop/tablet/smartphone to log into wifimgr and generate a password for each device with its MAC address. Devices can be removed and passwords re-generated from the same page. If you need help finding the MAC address for your device here are the steps for some common devices:
Nintendo Switch
- Select System Settings from the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down through the menu and select Internet.
- The Nintendo Switch console’s MAC address will be listed under System MAC Address.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
- Go to My Xbox in the Xbox Dashboard and select Settings.
- In the Settings pane, select Network.
- Select Advanced Settings from the Network Settings tab.
- At the bottom of this screen you’ll see a heading called Wired and Wireless MAC.
PS4
- Power on the PS4 without a disc in the system.
- In the PS4 menu, arrow up and select Settings.
- Scroll down to Network.
- Scroll down to View Connection Status.
- The MAC Address will be listed next to MAC Address (LAN) and MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
PS5
- Power on the PS5 without a disc in the system.
- In the PS5 menu, arrow up and select Settings.
- Scroll down to Network.
- Scroll down to View Connection Status.
- The MAC Address will be listed next to MAC Address (LAN) and MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
If your device is not listed, you can look up the device online and find instructions for finding the MAC address.
Registering Devices to the Network
Once you have your device’s MAC address, navigate to wifimgr and login with your Tech username and password.
- Once on the ClearPass Guest site, on the left side of the page, select Create Device.
- Enter the appropriate information into the boxes.
- MAC Address
- Device Name (This can be whatever you like)
- Accept the Terms of Use
- Click Create.
- You will see a summary of your device. Write down the WiFi password that is given to you for that device.
- On the device that you just registered, navigate to the LaTechIoT network and enter the password that was provided.
