This article contains answers to some of the most common issues regarding access to the mainframe (CICS).

How do I get access to CICS (Student records, budget information, etc.)?

Your department head must send a Memo to the Computing Center located at Wyly Tower 116 requesting a CICS account be generated.

NOTE: Since this will let you access very sensitive information, there are three stages/people across campus that must authorize your request before a CICS account is created. For this reason, obtaining a new UserID for a new faculty member can take up to 2 weeks.

When I try to log on to the mainframe I get one of these messages:

  1. Access denied
  2. Exceeded log on attempts
  3. userid has been revoked
  4. Put in protected mode

You must speak with Lucretia McKaskle or Gene Easterling at 257-2893.

My UserID is not in the CP directory?

You must speak with Mike Colyar at 257-2893.

My Screen is completely blank?

Call the Helpdesk at 257-5300.

How do I change my mainframe password?

Log on to the mainframe and type password, then follow the prompts on the screen. NOTE! The system also requires you to change your password every 30 days.

Do I have to get a new User ID and password every quarter?

No, It will be with you until you graduate or cease employment. Your password may have to be changed once every thirty days.

What do I do if I forgot my password and/or User ID?

Take your Tech ID card to Wyly Tower 116 and ask for it. UserID's and passwords are not given out over the phone. They are only given in person to the student or faculty/staff member the card belongs to.
