Secure Wireless on iOS and OSX Print E-mail

This article explains how to connect to the secure wireless network on Apple branded devices.

For Lion 10.7 and iOS systems:

You are installing and using this configuration profile completely at your own risk.

Note 2: You must be in range of Tech's wireless to complete this.

Note 3: You MUST be running Apple software. This profile will not work with any other manufacturer. This profile will work only for iPhones, iPads and OSX Lion(10.7).

1. Download the configuration file on your device.
2. You should see an "Install Profile" screen come up. Tap "Install."
3. A screen should pop up saying "IMPORTANT: The authenticity of..."
4. Click "Install Now."
5. If you have a passcode, you will be prompted to enter it.
6. A box should come up asking for your username. Carefully enter your username (your e-mail
address without the If your address is abc123, enter abc123.)
7. Tap "Next" in the upper right-hand corner.
8. Carefully enter your Tech password, then tap "Next" in the upper right-hand corner.
9. Tap "Done."
10. You should be back at the home screen. Tap the "Settings" icon.
11. Tap "Wi-Fi."
12. IF and ONLY IF you have previously connected to the LaTech OpenAir network, tap the
little > arrow next to OpenAir.
12a. Tap "Forget this Network."
12b. Confirm by tapping the "Forget Network."
13. Tap the name "LaTechWPA2."
14. A "Certificate" window should pop up. Tap "Accept."
15. You should now be connected to LaTechWPA2, Tech's secure, encrypted wireless network!

For Leopard 10.5 and Snow Leopard 10.6 systems:

1) Open System Preferences
2) Click on Network
3) Click on AirPort
4) Ensure that AirPort is turned ON.
5) Click on Advanced...
6) Click on the 802.1x tab
7) Select Domain: User
8) Click the + to add a configuration. Name it LaTechWPA2.
9) Type in your Tech username (the part of your e-mail before
10) Type in your e-mail password.
11) For Wireless Network:, select LaTechWPA2. If you are not in range of the wireless
network, type in "LaTechWPA2" without the quotes.
12) Uncheck TTLS; PEAP should be the only Authentication Protocol checked.
13) Click Apply.
14) At the 802.1x Authentication Certificate Warning, click Show Certificate.
15) Check Always trust "LaTech WiFi" and click Continue.
16) Close the Network preferences pane.
