Registering Game Consoles
This article explains how to register gaming consoles (XBOX, PS3, etc.) with the university in order to be able to utilize online gaming capabilities.

First you must get your MAC address from the machine by following these instructions:

XBOX 360

  1. Try to log in to Live
  2. Confirm that you want to test your connection.
  3. If connection fails go to Edit Settings at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tab over to additional settings and select the option that says Alternate MAC address.
  5. MAC address is listed at the bottom under Wired MAC Address.  (It will be listed without the colons)

XBOX

  1. Turn on the Xbox console with no game disc in the disc tray.
  2. From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Xbox Live.
  3. These steps assume you cannot connect to Xbox Live until you finish configuring your Xbox console to use your    PC's MAC address. Therefore, you should receive the following message: "Could not connect to Xbox Live. Do you    want to troubleshoot your network connection?".
  4. From the Connect Status screen, select Settings.
  5. The 12-digit number at the bottom-right corner of the Network Settings screens is the MAC address of your Xbox console. Do not change your Xbox console MAC address, just write it down so that you can use it later.

Sony PS2

  1. Load the Start-up CD in the Playstation2.
  2. Make sure you have the network cable disconnected.
  3. Walk through the Start-Up CD until it starts testing the connection. Since the network cable is disconnected the test will fail.
  4. You can now press the select button, which will display the Hardware MAC Address.
  5. The 12-digit number is the MAC address of your PS2, write it down so that you can use it later.

Sony PS3

  1. Select settings on the PS3 main menu.
  2. Navigate down to select System Settings
  3. Select System Information. On this screen, you will see the MAC address.

Nintendo Wii

  1. Turn on the Wii.
  2. Click the Wii button in the lower lefthand corner.
  3. Click Wii Settings.
  4. Scroll over until you see Internet. Click it.
  5. Click Console Information.
  6. The 12-digit number is the MAC address of your Wii, write it down so that you can use it later.
Now you can register at https://www.latech.edu/netreg/. If the page comes up as not found then you must install the La Tech certificate by clicking View Certificate on the pop window and then import it. Next, enter your MAC address, select your gaming console, and then click Apply.
