Requesting Access to Administrative System Applications

Procedures to Request Access

Access to mainframe applications is controlled by the departments to whom the data belongs.  These individuals are the data stewards for that portion of the University’s information.   The Computing Center does not make decisions on who should have access to institutional data.  That decision belongs with the departments responsible for that information.  Each administrative department has its own requirements for requesting access.  Some common ones are listed below:

Student Information System (ZC on CICS Menu):  The supervisor of the individual needing access should send an email to registrar @ latech.edu requesting access.  Please indicate the individual’s job, department and why they need access.   If the individual is already using campus email, copying them on the email requesting access is appropriate.   Please note that though a network user ID can be created before an individual is fully active in the HR system, the Registrar will not grant student information access until the individual is fully active in the system.  This is usually just before the individual’s first paycheck.

Balance File Inquiry (BI on CICS Menu):  There are two forms on the Comptroller’s web site for requesting access to account balance information.   The forms are PDFs that will need to be filled out, printed and sent to University Research or the Comptroller’s office.  Each form has a set of signatures that will be required for access to be given.  One of the forms is for requesting access to balance file information for grant accounts.  This form is sent to the University Research office.   If only non-grant accounts are needed, then use the standard form and send it to Katrina Grant in the Comptroller’s office.

Property Inquiry/Department Update (PR on CICS Menu):  This application is for those individual that are responsible for keeping up with some state property within their departments.  To receive approval, request via email from Debbie Forney - Property Manager (dforney @ latech.edu) with a copy of that email going to David Deal - Director of Information Systems & Financial Planning (isdld @ latech.edu).  Please indicate what department the request is for.

Property Browse (PB on CICS Menu): This application is for department heads, their disignee or property custodian.  Allows browsing through all inventory without knowing tag numbers.  To receive approval, request via email from Ann White - Property manager (awhite @ latech.edu) with a copy of that email going to David Deal - Director of Information Systems & Financial Planning ( isdld @ latech.edu.  Please indicate what department the request is for. 

Purchase Activity Inquiry (PI on CICS Menu): This application is for those that have purchasing powers/permissions in their department/college/division.  To obtain access send email to Melissa Hughes -  Director of Purchasing  (mhughes @ latech.edu).  Please indiate what department and job position the requestor holds.
