Setting Up Outlook Express Print E-mail
This article contains information on how to setup Outlook Express for use with the campus email system.
  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Choose Tools > Accounts.
  3. Next click Add > Mail...
  4. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From field of all of your outgoing messages from this e-mail account, indicating to your recipients who the mail is from. Press Next.
  5. Enter the e-mail address that has been assigned to you by the Computing Center. This is the address that other people will use to send you e-mail. (example: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) Press Next.
  6. Choose either POP3 or IMAP for My incoming mail server is a ..... server. IMAP is preferred over POP3. To learn about the difference read POP vs IMAP.
  7. The incoming mail server is, and the outgoing (SMTP) server is
  8. Click Next.
  9. The Account name and password will be your LaTech userID and password. If you would like for the system to remember your password, leave Remember password checked.
  10. Click Next and then Finish.
  11. Click on the created entry and click the Properties button.
  12. Go to the Servers tab.
  13. Click the check box next to My Server Requires Authentication, then click settings.
  14. Ensure that the top bubble is selected. (Use same settings as my incoming mail server.)
  15. Click OK.
  16. Click on the Advanced tab.
  17. Enable SSL on SMTP and change the Outgoing port number to 465. If you can enable TLS, set the port number to 587.
  18. Enable SSL on the Incoming mail server. The port number should change to 993 for IMAP and 995 for POP3.
  19. Click Close on the Internet Accounts window.
  20. Click Send/Recv to check your e-mail.
