Gmail Accounts in Outlook |

This article explains how to set up your student Tech gmail account in Outlook 2010. It is currently a work in progress. Use the instructions below for IMAP, or download and install Google Apps Sync Tool for Outlook : https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gappssync
- Login to your Google mail account.
- Click on the gear picture, and choose Settings.

- Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab at the top.
- Click Disable POP.
- Click Enable IMAP. Your screen should look similar to the one below:

- Click Save Changes.
- Open Outlook.
- Click File, then Add Account.
- Choose Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click Next.
- Leave the Internet E-mail option checked, and click Next.
- Fill in your name.
- Your email address will be abc123@email.latech.edu, where abc123 is your student account.
- We recommend changing the account type to IMAP. To see the difference, see this article.
- Change the incoming mail server to imap.gmail.com.
- Change the outgoing mail server to smtp.gmail.com.
- Type in your username (including @email.latech.edu) and password. Your screen should look similar to the following:

- Click More Settings....
- Click the Outgoing Server tab. Click the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Change the Use the following type of encrypted connection dropbox to SSL. Change the Incoming server (IMAP) port to 993.

- Change the Use the following type of encrypted connection dropbox to TLS. Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) to 587.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Your account should now be created.
