Securing Folders in Mac OS X Print E-mail
This article contains information on how to secure a network folder in Mac OS X so that you are the only person who can view the contents.

To secure a folder on the network so that you are the only person who can access it, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the folder once to highlight it.
  2. Bring up the Folder Information window using the keyboard shortcut Command + I.
  3. Expand the last panel titled "Sharing & Permissions by clicking the triangle on the left.

  4. Unlock the folder by selecting the lock at the bottom right, and supply your username and password.
  5. Change the Privilege of "everyone" to No Access.
  6. Click Apply to enclosed items.
  7. Close the window by clicking on the red jewel button.
